On July 9, 1918, Congress established the Army Mine Planter Service as part of the Coast Artillery Service, and the rank of Warrant Officer for the Army was born. Today our Warrant Officers hold over 53 different Military Occupational Skills (MOS) in various specialties.  Our Warrant Officers are an integral part of the Army’s Officer Corps, and as leaders and technicians, they have helped shape our force since their inception.  I want to personally thank our Warrant Officers for the expertise and guidance they provide to our senior leadership in integrating and managing multiple complex Army systems and programs.   In recognition of the significance and value the Warrant Officer Corps brings to the Army, the Army Chief of Staff announced the creation of the position of the Army Staff Senior Warrant Officer (ARSTAFF SWO) on March 14, 2014.   Our Warrant Officers’ contributions to the Florida National Guard and to the nation have enabled our continued outstanding reputation throughout the Army National Guard.  Please join me in wishing the Warrant Officer Corps “Happy Birthday!”
