Memorandum from Governor Rick Scott

This morning I announced we are recommending an historic $100 million in funding for our state’s tourism agency, VISIT FLORIDA, in our 2014-2015 “It’s Your Money Tax Cut Budget.”

This funding will supply VISIT FLORIDA with the resources needed to reach our goal of making the Sunshine State the number one travel destination in the world.

In 2012, Florida had a record year for tourism with over 90 million visitors to Florida, and for the first three quarters of 2013, we welcomed more than 72 million visitors. This puts us on pace for another record-breaking year!

We know that every 85 visitors to our state supports one Florida job, and with this historic $100 million in funding, we’ll strengthen our economy and create more jobs for Florida families.

Florida state employees are working hard for Florida families.

I would like to recognize Senior Juvenile Probation Officer Betty Preble for being named the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice’s circuit nineteen 2013 Employee of the Year. Officer Preble was awarded for her commitment to continually serving the needs of the youth and families in her care.

I would also like to thank Tim Johns of Enterprise Florida for his work with Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a world leader in liquefied natural gas, as the company expands its operations in Manatee County. Tim’s efforts will help create 250 new jobs for Florida families.

Thank you for all your great work for Florida families and have a great weekend.

Governor Rick Scott
