It was an honor to join state and local leaders in recognizing America’s heroes this week. While visiting Land O’ Lakes, we awarded 136 of Florida’s veterans with the Governor’s Veterans Service Award. The freedom and opportunities we are gifted with each day is only possible because of the service of our veterans. We can never thank our veterans enough for their service to our country, and the Governor’s Veterans Service Awards will serve as a testament of our thanks from Floridians everywhere. Florida state employees are working hard for Florida families.

I would like to recognize the Consultant Timesheets Approver Team of the Florida Department of Transportation District Four for their work implementing a new online system that will save tax payers over $190,000 each year. The team’s new system not only saves tax payer dollars, but also improves productivity and reduces errors.

I would like the thank Kerri Post, Katie Kole and Rachel Porter of the Florida Department of State’s Viva Florida 500 Team for their successful representation of Viva Florida 500 throughout all of Florida’s 67 counties. The team’s diligent work planning and organizing Viva Florida 500 events has helped share the celebration of Florida’s history with families across the state.

Thank you for all your great work on behalf Florida families, and have a great weekend.
