Today we learned that Florida businesses created 20,900 jobs over the month of March. In total, Florida’s economy has added more than 563,000 private sector jobs in just over three years, giving more Floridians the opportunity to find jobs and provide for their families.
For the eighth consecutive month, Florida’s unemployment rate remains well below the national average of 6.7 percent. Our businesses are continuing to create jobs and Floridians are continuing to find more opportunities to succeed. Let’s keep working until everyone who wants a job can get one.
Florida state employees are working hard for Florida families.
I would like to congratulate Philip Manor, of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for receiving the Jim Stevenson Natural Resource Manager of the Year Award. This award is one of Florida’s highest environmental honors and recognized Philip for his enthusiastic leadership efforts to restoring and enhancing Florida’s wildlife.
I would also like to applaud David Grabka and his team, of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, for receiving the Chief of Naval Operations Environmental Award and the 2013 Secretary of the Navy Environmental Restoration Award. David and his team were honored for their work with the Cecil Field Base Realignment and Closure Cleanup.
Thank you for all your great work for Florida families and have a great weekend.
