Florida Guard Team,
I regret having to inform you that Congress was unable to pass a budget or a continuing resolution before the deadline last night. As of midnight, we are under a lapse of appropriation, and are subsequently finalizing preparations for shutdown of most of our federal and federally supported operations. This will conclude by noon today.
For those who are impacted by the shutdown, you should have received information last week regarding your status, expectations during shutdown and information on recall procedures. I ask that you take time this morning to review these procedures so that we are able to quickly disseminate information to you and resume normal operations as soon as we have an approved appropriation.
This is not the first time we have experienced a federal shut down, and our staff has done extraordinary work to ensure we have the most current information, and that we are proceeding in accordance with the law, while seeking ways to best take care of our team. We don’t know how long the shutdown will last, but I encourage you to monitor the news, as information on this action is being continuously updated across most media. Additionally, we have posted information on directives and resources at http://www.floridaguard.army.mil/283004.
Thank you for your patience and continued service to our state and nation.
Emmett R. Titshaw Jr.
The Adjutant General of Florida
