Wishing you a safe and joyous holiday season

Florida Guard Family,

Thank you for all you do – EVERY DAY – to support our great state and nation.  As we begin the holidays, I hope you are able to celebrate your traditions and blessings with family and friends.  This is a time to focus on those things that are most important and to refresh for the year ahead.

Despite the numerous challenges we’ve faced this past year from sequestration, furlough and budget uncertainty, our team has demonstrated extraordinary strength, unity and character.  This past year, we deployed the 100th Florida National Guard unit since 9/11, completed the most complex domestic response exercise ever conducted, sustained one of the highest retention rates in the National Guard for Army and Air, and had several of our personnel and units recognized at the national level for their outstanding achievements.  These are just a few of our accomplishments, but most importantly, we have taken care of our families and ensured that we are ready to respond to the needs of our citizens and our nation.

We will have nearly 250 Soldiers and Airmen deployed during the holidays.  I ask that you continue to keep each of them and their families in your thoughts and prayers as they stand guard for the nation.

Gretchen and I are immensely proud to be part of the Florida Guard Family, and we wish you a safe and joyous holiday season!
