The Florida Air National Guard showed off its capabilities to its State Commander-in Chief, Nov. 2, as Gov. Rick Scott met with members of the 125th Fighter Wing at the Jacksonville International Airport.
The governor’s visit included an orientation and briefings with Air National Guard leaders, a tour of the 125th facilities and a high-speed familiarization flight in an F-15 Eagle fighter jet.
Following safety briefings and egress training, 125th Fighter Wing Commander Col. James Eifert took the governor into the skies over Northeast Florida for a hands-on demonstration of the F-15.
The mission of the 125th Fighter Wing is to provide air defense for the southeastern United States. As directed by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), this area reaches from Charleston, S.C., to the southern tip of Florida and across the Florida panhandle.
