Last week we announced the goal of cutting taxes and fees for Florida families by $500 million in our next proposed budget. On my “It’s Your Money” tax cut tour I had the honor of traveling the state to discuss which taxes and fees Floridians want to see reduced. Florida’s incredible economic turnaround means we must return more tax dollars to the hardworking people of Florida. After all – it’s your money.  As we traveled through West Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Tampa, and Orlando, we heard great ideas on how these tax cuts could best help families and job creators.

Florida state employees are working hard for Florida families.

I want to congratulate Bob Wattendorf with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Division of Freshwater Fisheries for receiving the 2013 Florida Outdoor Writers Association Excellent in Craft Award. Bob was recognized for his monthly column “Fish Busters,” which shares Florida’s freshwater fishing opportunities with readers across the country.

I also want to acknowledge Anthony Makielski, Assistant Environmental Health Director for the Florida Department of Health in Brevard County, for receiving the Charlie Rhodes Award by the Florida Environmental Health Association. Anthony was awarded for his outstanding leadership and service in environmental health in Florida over the past 11 years.

Thank you for all your great work on behalf Florida families, and have a great weekend.
