Florida National Guard Family,
April is the Month of the Military Child, a time for us to recognize and celebrate the strength and service of our military children. Nationwide, nearly 2 million children live with challenges their civilian peers never encounter, such as frequent moves and extended parental deployments. In fact, just last week we said farewell to almost 700 of our Florida Guardsmen as they deployed for a year to the Horn of Africa, leaving behind hundreds of children. As we’ve seen before, and will continue to see, our children are strong. They’re determined. And they’ll persevere.
Fortunately, we are preparing to welcome back several hundred more Guardsmen as they return from their deployments, and we’ll stand ready to support the reintegration of these Guard families. Our children have played a tremendous role in supporting our warfighters, and we need to ensure they are appreciated.
I’m counting on you – on us – to be there for the Soldiers and Airmen who are deployed AND for the families that are holding down the fort. We work for you – always ready, always there!
