SAPPM – 2019

Team Florida –

April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM), and this year the Department of Defense has chosen to keep the theme “Protecting Our People Protects Our Mission.” This critical message still rings true because unfortunately, sexual assault is still a reality in our organization and our society.

The Florida National Guard has ushered in SAAPM 2019 with a TAG proclamation signing and installation proclamation signings with 125th FW and CBJTC along with many Service members signing the 2019 SAAPM pledge to take a stand against sexual violence.

We have two significant events remaining in SAAPM 2019. Wednesday, April 24th we will observe National Denim Day coupled with a “Teal Out!” Members of the Florida National Guard are authorized and encouraged to wear jeans and teal to stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence.

Additionally, the Florida National Guard is hosting its 2nd annual Race for Respect 5K, Kids Run and Family Day on Saturday April 27th at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center. Family Day activities include games, prizes, informational booths, and a static display.

I join leaders, units, advocates and communities across the State in taking action to prevent sexual violence in its many forms. The difference starts with you. Step up and step in to stop sexual assault.

Florida First!
