The Adjutant General’s Message to Florida National Guard and Dept. of Military Affairs Members About the Importance of Voting

Joint Force Headquarters

 November 1, 2012

On November 6th, our Nation decides who will represent our interests on the national, state, and local levels.  We Guard members have more at stake than most, because many of these elected officials will determine our roles, missions, and equipping levels.  Our Constitution allows our Armed Forces to vote for these officials, which many countries’ constitutions do not.

From now until Tuesday, November 6th, we have the privilege of exercising our constitutionally guaranteed right to vote.  I hope you and your voting age family members take advantage of that right.  Every vote counts!  Study the candidates’ positions and proposed amendments –then vote.  Again, it is a great honor to help determine and shape the future of our Nation.

Remember, America’s warriors have served faithfully for more than two centuries to help guarantee and preserve the rights of all eligible Americans to vote.  That is our heritage.  By exercising our privilege to vote, we set a course for our future horizon.

Thanks for all you do each and every day.

Maj. Gen. Emmett R. Titshaw Jr.
