Wreaths Across America a ‘pause to remember’ this Saturday

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (Dec. 10, 2014) — This Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at noon, the Veterans Council of St. Johns County will again sponsor the Wreaths Across America event. The public is invited to attend and participate.

The historic St. Augustine National Cemetery at 104 Marine Street, St. Augustine will once again be the site of a tribute to our veterans by placing beautiful holiday wreaths at each of the 1,216 gravesites.

For several years the Veterans Council has committed through acquiring donations to ensure the sacrifice of our veterans and their families are honored.

The event will include an opening ceremony, placing of wreaths of each branch of service and the opportunity for our citizens to assist in placement of the wreaths.

The keynote speaker will be Col. Rob Keating, Director of Human Resources Florida Army National Guard. At the conclusion of the placement of the wreaths a firing detail will fire three volleys and TAPS will be performed by John Donlon, U.S. Navy (Ret).

This ceremony would not be possible without the tireless efforts of Ray Quinn, SGM (USA, Ret) and Judy Davis, SFC (USA, Ret) and the unwavering support of our citizens and local businesses that again this year made this event possible.
